The 30-meter-high monumental work of art “The Molecule Man”, which was created in 1999 by the American sculptor Jonathan Borofsky, is located in the middle of the river Spree. It is a three-person sculpture that is put at the seam of the reunited West and East Berlin and at the intersection of the following three districts: Kreuzberg, Alt-Treptow and Friedrichshain. The holes in the figures are supposed to symbolize the molecules.
