Images by GDR television on the production of the Trabant car, particularly the production of the plastic car body. The Trabant is an automobile which was produced by a former East German car manufacturer from 1958 until 1990. The Trabant, lovingly also called Trabbi, was one of the first small-car models with front-wheel drive. It offered enough space for four adults and luggage. The plastic body and the two-stroke engine were out of date as early as the mid-1960s. In the 1980s, it was even almost unsalable in the socialist brother countries. Nevertheless, the Trabant developed into a cult vehicle.
