The Cuban communist revolutionary and politician Fidel Castro is visiting the GDR. On 19 June 1972, Fidel Castro is welcomed at the airport Berlin-Schönefeld by General Secretary of the SED Erich Honecker. During his trip through the East, he also stops in Rostock. Surrounded by crowds, he visits the People’s Navy and greets the officers and sailors with a handshake. On board of the coastal protection ship, he is talking to Walter Ulbricht and Harry Tisch, the 1st Secretary District Administration of Rostock.
