The Soviet party and state leader Leonid Brezhnev is on state visit to East Berlin. The reason for his visit are the celebration concerning the 30th anniversary of the GDR. In addition to the brotherly kiss between Brezhnev and Honecker at Niederschönhausen Palace in East Berlin, a visit to the pompous anniversary parade is at the top of the official program. Brezhnev reminds the SED politburo to increase the productivity in the economy. “After all,” he says “we can only consume what we produce. None of us want to live at someone else’s expense or declare ourselves bankrupt.”
